The materials
Much of the pollution linked to the textile industry is created during the manufacturing process. Selecting our raw materials means taking action right from the start of the cycle.
The Horse Pilot objective
As a player in the textile industry, Horse Pilot wants to be more responsible in its use of materials, giving priority to those that are technical and environmentally friendly.
Our actions
As part of a global ethical approach, Horse Pilot has worked from the outset with select partners for the production of raw materials.
By 2023, 70% of the materials used by Horse Pilot are eco-designed. Compared with 2022, this represents an increase of 10%.
70% of the materials used by Horse Pilot are eco-designed.
WHAT IS OEKO-TEX?
By 2023, 80% of the materials we use are Oeko-Tex® certified.
This label certifies to consumers that no substances harmful to the environment are used in the composition of the material, in compliance with the Reach directive.
The label also certifies that the materials have been tested to be harmless to consumers' health.
Pants and jackets developed with Eurojersey
More specifically, in the choice of materials for pants and jackets, Horse Pilot works with Eurojersey, an ISO14001-certified Italian pioneer in eco-design, committed to reducing its use of water, energy, waste and chemicals.
The materials produced by Eurojersey are Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified, as are Sensitive Fabrics, which certifies a manufacturing process that conserves water and energy and uses no harmful chemicals.
Finally, Eurojersey has introduced a carbon footprint monitoring system: the PEF (Product Environmental Footprint), which measures the environmental footprint of a product's entire life cycle through 16 environmental indicators such as water, carbon and energy footprints on the Sensitive Fabrics range of materials.
In 2023, 33.7% of the materials used were Sensitive Fabrics certified.
GOALS FOR THE FUTURE
For 2024 Horse Pilot aims to increase the use of materials made from eco-responsible fibers. These may include recycled fibers, bluesign fibers or PFC Free.
